Leonard Nimoy, best known for his portrayal of Spock in Star Trek: The Original Series, passed away this morning at the age of 83. Reports indicate that prior to his death, Nimoy was suffering from the end-stages of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease for which he had been hospitalized several days earlier.

As a life-long Star Trek fan, I was saddened to hear of Nimoy’s death. However, I’m also grateful for the countless Spock memories that I’ve come to cherish after watching Leonard perform his iconic role for so many years. Rest in peace, Mr. Nimoy, and thanks for all the fun times.

“Of my friend, I can only say this: of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most . . . human.”
