Starting in the middle of October, I’ll be reviewing a series of B-grade horror/sci-fi movies in honor of the Halloween season. Below is a tentative list of all the content that I plan to cover this month:

1. The Lost World
2. Island of Lost Souls
3. Black Friday
4. Man Made Monster
5. The Ape Man
6. Return of the Ape Man
7. Abbott and Costello Go to Mars
8. Creature with the Atom Brain
9. The Quatermass Xperiment
10. X the Unknown
11. Indestructible Man
12. Quatermass 2
13. The Deadly Mantis
14. I Was a Teenage Werewolf
15. I Was a Teenage Frankenstein
16. Blood of Dracula
17. How to Make a Monster
18. The Hideous Sun Demon
19. The Giant Gila Monster
20. The Killer Shrews
21. Little Shop of Horrors (Original)
22. Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster
23. Yongary, Monster from the Deep
24. Quatermass and the Pit
25. Night Gallery (Pilot)
26. Willard (Original)
27. Dracula vs. Frankenstein
28. Ben
29. Killer Klowns from Outer Space
30. The Blob (Remake)
31. They Live
32. Mars Attacks!

If I have the time and/or energy, I might also post an article or two explaining my thoughts on how to salvage the new Universal Monster reboot franchise—already a disaster in the making, though not without a great deal of unrecognized potential.

  1. An interesting looking list – but I’m not sure The Quatermass Xperiment should be included as it’s certainly a A Grade film – B grade only by virtue of its small budget.

    • Even though I included several A-grade films on the list, B movies will be my general theme for the month. I had originally intended to review all the Hammer/Amicus movies this October, but I’ll probably need to save most of those for next year due to time constraints.

      • Well your reviews will certainly be interesting.

Looking at ‘The Lost World’ retrospectively it’s a terrible film – but it succeeded in frightening me as a child.

I’m sure you will spotted that the helicopter cockpit seems to be copying the TARDIS in that it’s bigger on the inside than it is on the outside.
