With Star Wars Day right around the corner, now seems like a sad time to report the death of Peter Mayhew—known for playing Chewbacca in five of the eight films that currently exist within the main saga. Mayhew also appeared in the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special, where Chewie—accompanied by Han Solo and the gang—returns to the Wookie homeworld of Kashyyyk to celebrate “Life Day” with his family. Despite retiring from his iconic role after The Force Awakens, the 7-foot-3-inch actor later served as a “Chewbacca Consultant” on The Last Jedi and Solo: A Star Wars Story.
